Introduction to Manager, Caregiver, and Family User Types

Before getting started with the Care Team Connect app, it's important to understand the capabilities and limitations of the three primary user types.

Managers, caregivers, and family members will all have unique user experiences. This lesson explains how each type of user can access and use the app.

FAMILY

User Type #1: Manager

The manager user type is reserved for key personnel; these users can setup care teams, assign tablets, invite family members to join a team, and view activity across the entire organization.

How do care managers access the app?

During the startup training, each organization will be prompted to identify staff members that should be set up with manager access. Those individuals will receive a personalized invitation via email prompting them to download and login to the Care Team Connect app.  

If your organization needs to revoke on grant access to managers within your organization, please contact the Generation Connect support team.

Capabilities

  • Setting Up Care Teams - create client accounts and specify caregivers access
  • Assigning Tablets - assign tablets to sync content from friends and family
  • Sending Family Invitations - invite family members to download the app and share
  • Monitoring Activity - view family insights and caregiver feedback across the entire organization

User Type #2: Caregivers

Caregivers can access client engagement profiles via designated Care Team Tablets using a unique PIN code. While using the app, caregivers can view content from family members and share enjoyable moments had with the client.

How do caregivers access the app?

Once a tablet has been assigned to a client, the Care Team Connect app requires a PIN code to access the client's engagement profile. Each caregiver is assigned a unique PIN, which provides access to designated clients.  

Caregivers cannot access client engagement profiles from any other device - except the tablet that has been assigned to the client by the manager.

Capabilities

  • View Engagement Profiles - view family photos, suggested topics, and music preferences
  •  Add Moments - share happy or uplifting moments with the team
  • Upload Photos - designated caregivers can take and share photos

User Type #3: Family

Family members receive a personalized invitation from with instructions for downloading the app and sharing meaningful photos, conversation topics, and music preferences.

How do family members access the app?

Managers can invite family members to contribute to a client's engagement profile. Family members receive the invitation via email and are prompted to download the Care Team Connect app via an Apple or Android smartphone or tablet.  

The first time family members log into the app, they will be guided through the onboarding process.

Capabilities

  • Share photos - upload photos of family, friends, and special memories with description captions
  • Suggest conversation topics - share topics that may spark conversation and inform activity choices
  • Suggest music- identify music genres or artists connected to past experiences
  • View Caregiver Activity - follow updates and see pictures from the care team
